Although new to the Rock Crawling scene, the concept of a complete Spec Class has been around for eons in
motorsports racing. Where drivers can really just battle each other instead of having to battle each other
and their pocket books. The Formula Toyota Class is exactly at this level. 10 of the best Formula Toyota
teams came to battle at Perris, Only one was able to walk away champion.

The Formula Toyota (F-Toy) class is based solely off a Toyota Chassis and drivetrain. Teams have the
ability to take off the bodies and add a sec chassis built by Hendrix Motorsports. The idea is to level
the playing field and make an affordable avenue for Rock Crawling Enthusiasts. The Goal has been more than
met with around 100 vehicles sold and more going out the door daily.

In this drivers battle, there is the unspoken hero, the spotter. The sport of rock crawling is a game of
inches, one inch makes a world of difference and often times that inch can only be seen by the spotter due
to visibility of the driver. In the F-Toy world and most of all the sport, the spotter plays a seemingly
crucial role to the inches game as well as stacking rocks and pulling rope.

At Perris, The teams had to work together as one. Spotter, Driver, and vehicle had to keep their wits and
parts together to pull out a successful weekend. At the end, John James and Eric Anderson had that success
all tied up as the duo took home first place and wiped the field by nearly double their points. Second was
Mark Carter who just barely etched out Brett Porter for second place. Hal Deschamps slid in a 4th behind
porter with Western Fab and Tool Chassis. Fifth was Bernie Hagerman in the 42 F-Toy as he won the tie
breaker for 5th place against Mike Wright.
