Jason Scherer owner of "Tiny" might be switching stables this year... ::: Photo Cedit: Chad Jock Photography & Pirate4x4.com

Every fan always wants to know what is going on behind the scenes as it gives them an in depth look as to who, what, where, why, how. Rock Crawling is no different and the info disclosed is not all completely confirmed but as an insider, I can say that it all comes from several very trustworthy sources. Heck, some of it came straight from the drivers, spotters, or pit crews mouth. You can decide for yourself what is true and what isn't, either way, it is fun to know and could help set up your perspective on your favorite driver...

Rumor #1: Jason Scherer #13
Jason Scherer has seen his fair share of great victories and unfortunate defeats. Competing for over 7 years and originally starting out in the Modified Stock Class, Scherer has just about dominated with every vehicle he steps into. 2003 He moved into the Pro Modified Class under the Shaffer's Off-Road Diablo crawler. He did well with constant top five finishes due to his all or nothing driving style he likes to call "Bull Riding." Well enough to tie for first in the series (losing by one point in the tie breaker to Mark Berger), tie for first in Put Up or Shut Up against a vehicle he would later own (Tiny), and take second place in the World Championships two years in a row to arch rival Tracy Jordan. So with all the great finishes and moving from Mod Stock to Pro Mod to Unlimited, would Scherer be ready for yet another move? Even more so under the stable of Campbell Enterprises? And what about his class? Rumor has that it may be in the highly focused Pro Modfied Class...

Rumor #2: The Entire Twisted Customs Stable
There is no doubt that Twisted Customs has produced more top finishes in a single chassis than any other fabricator in the sport. With the likes of Jason Paule, Tracy Jordan, and Brian Errea leading the way, the insane turning abilities thanks to the research the group has in 60 degree steering and countless World, National, and Divisional Championships under their belt, you would wonder who wouldn't want to buy their vehicles. In 2008, 9 teams in the Pro Modified Class will be outfitted under the Twisted Customs stable. Owner Goerge Wadeson, who has set the stone for team owners in Rock Crawling with his professional outlook, must be happy since he has three 2-Time World Champions and 7 National Champions driving his trucks. The list will most definitely continue if '08 plays out like '07, but the question is: Who is moving into the stable? Peter Mazzoni's return into a Twisted Customs Pro Modified truck as well as Western U.S. National Champion Troy Bailey should make the class more interesting...

Rumor #3: The 2008 Rookie Class
The Rookie Class of 2008 seems to be the largest Rock Crawling has ever seen. With 15 teams in the Pro Modified Class alone and countless others in the Unlimited Class, the sport is gaining momentum in competitor entries. Last season ('07) saw an average of 52.4 teams per event while the season before ('06) saw an average of 41.3. These stats also showed that only one event saw fewer teams than the year before, Goldendale, Washington had 2 fewer teams in '07 than '06. What does the Rookie Class have in store? Nicole Johnson with the Women's Nationals title, Buzzy Bronsema with a Western U.S. Nationals and World Championship title, west coast's Troy Bailey and east coast's Derek West, each with their respective divisions U.S. Nationals Championship. The question is will they keep their reign with their move into the class? Will they fall short of the podium?

There are more rumors in the W.E.ROCK family, but we'll leave those for you to digest until next week when we come out with a few that could catch you all off guard for the first event in Perris, California on April 12-13. You'll find out which are true and which are false as the 2008 season approaches. Heck I think it's only 55 days left, 54, 53, 52...

See you there!
