Rock Talk

Shannon Campbell and Lance Clifford Talk Strategy at the Grand Nationals ::: Photo Cedit: Chad Jock Photography & Pirate4x4.com

Here is another quick look at the insider’s point of view. Every fan always wants to know what is going on behind the scenes as it gives them an in depth look as to who, what, where, why, how. Rock Crawling is no different and the info disclosed is not all completely confirmed but as an insider, I can say that it all comes from several very trustworthy sources. Heck, some of it came straight from the drivers, spotters, or pit crews mouth. You can decide for yourself what is true and what isn't, either way, it is fun to know and could help set up your perspective on your favorite driver...

Rumor #1: Shannon Campbell #35
Everyone has heard of Shannon Campbell, especially with his countless recent wins, his Monster Energy sponsor, his “Driver of the Year” award, and the other many accomplishments he has achieved over the last few years in the Unlimited Class in Rock Crawling. This year however, fans might see him in another light. In 2007 Campbell made the move to the Eastern U.S. Nationals division, and rumor has it, Shannon will not only do the same, but do it in the Pro Modified Class running the same vehicle Casie Curry took 2nd place in the King of the Hammer race. What do you think? There are other rumors he may even be accompanied, look below…

Rumor #2: Jesse Haines #199
Jesse Haines has made huge waves in the world of Rock Crawling, from his Grand Nationals Win in 2005, his Countless Top 3 Finishes in the Unlimited Class, and now his move to the Western U.S. Nationals in the Unlimited Class. He battled Campbell at the Grand Nationals, point for point, and it was a simple cone that put him out of first by a few. So with this next rumor, the wonder is if it is all about vengeance? The rumor mill says Haines may be moving to the Eastern U.S. Nationals again from his west coast stable, in the Pro Modified Class… Interesting… Another rematch of the Grand Nationals battle week after week? Sure would be cool to watch.

Rumor #3: The 2008 Rookie Class
Yet another great driver with a great past in Rock Crawling, but some say he wants in on the East Coast battles as well. For Fact, Brad Lovell released press about his team making an Eastern U.S. Nationals appearance at the first season event in Hannibal, MO on April 26-27. So what is the question if we know for a fact that he is competing at Hannibal? I think it would be what is Lovell’s motive? It could be that the weekend just happened to be open, but with the busy season these guys race, that’s just too dim of an answer. So what about comparisons between him and Campbell, Haines, or any other top East Coast team? I personally think he wants revenge on his less than par finish at Grands. But less than par? For Lovell, it’s anything below first… He’ll be driving like a mad man…

There are more rumors in the W.E.ROCK family, but we'll leave those for you to digest until next week when we come out with a few that could catch you all off guard for the first event in Perris, California on April 12-13. You'll find out which are true and which are false as the 2008 season approaches. Heck I think it's only 29 days left, 28, 27, 26...

See you there!
