Rock Talk

Jesse Haines and SpikeTV talk about hs win at the GNC's in 2006 as an Unlimited Driver, now he venutres slightly into the Pro Modified ::: Photo Cedit: Pirate4x4.com

So less than two weeks until the season opener and we find out some very interesting things. We’ll touch on a few really hot topics right now like: Another BIG Unlimited Class Driver may be moving into the Pro Modified, Jason Scherer’s battle for the week build up, Rumors of the Grand Nationals, and more… So read below for the 3rd installment of Rock Talk.

Rumor #1: Class Movement
We have seen several of the big name drivers move into the Pro Modified Class for the 2008 season. #35 Shannon Campbell and #199 Jesse Haines are scheduled for the East Coast Pro Mod, #13 Jason Scherer is building one right now as we speak, and #415 Pete Mazzoni picked up his Twisted Customs Buggy just a bit ago. So the question is who’s next? #181 BZ is taking a year off of comps, #117 Cody Wagonner has expressed interest but to no commitment, #0 Jason Paule sold his rig and will be back out after two events, and #112 Tracy Jordan has been toying around with the idea, but all are just threats… I know one is moving for sure, who is the question we can’t get answered…

Rumor #2: Jason Scherer #13
Jason Scherer has been good to Rock Talk so far. Creating one rumor prior to this one. The first had to do with IF he was going to make the move up into the Pro Modified, now it is based on IF he is going to get it finished. He literally has less than 11 days for it to be registered at Perris. It is being build in Phoenix at Campbell Enterprises, but that is located over 8 hours away from Perris (5 if you drive like Jason Scherer), plus you need time for a shakedown, or not? Jason Scherer and the Rage4th crew really do rage and are the complete “All or Nothing”, “Ride by the seat of your pants” group. Will it be done in time and be competitive?

Rumor #3: The 2008 Grand Nationals
The Grand Nationals have moved across the country every year, first being Columbus, Ohio where a East Coast Rookie (at the time) Jesse Haines took the gold, then to Fort Worth, Texas where Jason Paule went for top honors, and finally last season in Houston, TX where Shannon Campbell won the whole deal. So where is the new location set? With all the new construction happening at the RROCK’s Hannibal Rocks park, W.E.ROCK as looked to pulling the contract to Tom and Debbie Wombles of RROCK. If all pans out, you’ll see the official press release in the next installment…

It’s gonna’ be a great year and it all kicks off at Perris Raceway in Perris, CA April 12-13
