The Rookie Class in Perris

Andrew Paulson's score aty perris might not have been great, but with seat time and his new facility, he is bound to show great results ::: Photo Cedit: HighRev Photo | Pirate4x4.com

The rookie class had amazing performances at Perris. In fact, in the Pro Modified Class there were two Rookies that took top 5 finishes and one in the Unlimited Class that took a top 5. What makes a Rookie? Any team entering their first full season in either the Pro Modified or Unlimited Class. For this, there are over ten total rookies this season and the graduating class could be on of the best ever. We will take a deeper look into the three rookies that placed higher. Read Below and find out a few of the reasons why…

Marc Thurston is a unique rookie in that he controlsd his vehicle with just his hands. His driving style is fun to watch and his attitude is one of the best on the circut ::: Photo Cedit: HighRev Photo | Pirate4x4.com

Before we jump into the countdown, we have some honorable mentions. #17 Buzzy Bronsema from Cedar City, Utah has a World Championship and Western U.S. Nationals Championship under his belt with the help of spotter Shon Wilson. The duo has made the jump to Pro Modified and looks to be making a move on the rest of the pack, look for HUGE results at his home tow of Cedar City when W.E.ROCK travel there for round 2 on May 17-18.

Nicole's impact is larger than just being a rookie as she has become an ambassador of the sport as well ::: Photo Cedit: HighRev Photo | Pirate4x4.com

#814 Nicole Johnson The top-placing rookie at Perris comes in at 4th place in the Pro Modified Class, and Nicole Johnson will surely be attempting to better that. She has the ability with her Campbell Enterprises build vehicle, her Spotter/Husband, and her pit crew that makes sure she is set for every course at the event. Last Season her team did well in the events they attended and with their "Family Four-Seater" Now, after her performance in Perris, she looks forward to the next event in Cedar City, Utah where her driving style caters more to the type of terrain. Will she succeed?

Cedar City will be right up Troy's Alley, especially since he lives minutes away ::: Photo Cedit: HighRev Photo | Pirate4x4.com

#005 Troy Bailey After a huge successful 2007 season in the Modified Stock with the Western U.S. Nationals, Troy Bailey made the move to Pro Modified. Driving his Maxxis Tires Sponsored vehicle to a 5th place finish at Perris, he only has to knock off a few more teams for that number one seed. His next event being Cedar City is literally in his back yard as he resides only miles from the event venue. With high hopes and standards, plus the home field advantage, look for this rookie to battle it out for top honors.

Matt Messer has made an impact and his help comes from his practice facility ::: Photo Cedit: Redneck Rea

#017 Matt Messer This Trail Geared team from Fresno, CA takes the top rookie spot as of right now in the Unlimited Class. Mater purchasing the old Marty Hart Badlands built Moonbuggy, Matt has made short work of the terrain and the competition. At Perris Matt sat only a few points behind Shannon Campbell, and now with the rest of the season ahead of him, his sights are set of great podium finishes. He attributes most of his success to his team and Trail Gear, his Title Sponsor.

Todd Young in the Unlimited Class will be a threat with more seat time ::: Photo Cedit: HighRev | Pirate4x4.com

For the rest of the rookie's class, there is lots of ground to make up, but this is a very long season and there is still a ton of room for greatness in the rookie season. We have rock crawls for a reason and that is to find out who is really the best, rookie or not. These guys all have what it takes; now they just have to put it all together.
