Championships on line as Oroville debuts

The 2009 season kicked off with a thrilling event on the debutant Pima Motorsports Park Rockcrawling Circuit. The tour moved to the legendary Three Peaks Off-Highway Park in Cedar City for the second round. The third round took place in all of the glitz and glamour that is the Sands Regency Casino and the debut of Reno Rocks. Now the circuit heads for its final stop, and another debutant course, this one is in Oroville, CA. Like Tucson, Oroville, will find itself with a ton of excitment on the rocks. Unlike Tucson, the reason for the exictment differs because championships are on the line. The Unlimited Class will see the final showdown between Cody Waggoner and Jesse Haines. Both drivers go into the final round of the year tied in the season standings. With wins decided between Haines and Waggoner during the shootout this championship is sure to come down to the final obstacle of the Pro-National West Series season. Brad Lovell was on top of the world going into Reno.  He was sitting on a perfect season, and looked to be a lock for the 2009 championship. However, this would not be the story after the shootout. Lovell would make an uncharacteristic mistake that would cost him his third win of the 2009 season. Lovell would settle for third as Tracy Jordan would find his way back to W.E.ROCK victory lane. Lovell still holds the points lead, but the top of the Pro-Modified class smell blood and are out to unseat the points leader at the end of the season. It's Brad Lovell vs. the entire Pro-Modified Class, and it will be a 9 round knock down drag out brawl in Oroville. The victor will be W.E.ROCK's Pro-National West Series Champion. The Modified Stock championship isn't the main story. The story is really about the battle for the win, and not the championship. Justin Hall holds a commanding lead over Larry Karver in the ponts standings, and the rookie looks primed to be crowned Modified Stock Champion. The interesting battle will be between Hall and Todd Stephenson. Stephenson was late entering the championship chase, but two very close races with Justin Hall makes things ver interesting. Hall won Tucson, but Stephenson has been victorious the rest of the season. Both drivers may pilot vastly different Suzuki Samurai vehicles. However, it has only been Suzuki in victory lane, and by the way things appear this will be a Suzuki sweep in Modified Stock. Just which Suzuki will do it? Formula Toyota has been the sight of some bloody battles this season. Tucson was a close race been John James and Jeff Mello. James would take the first win. Jeff Mello would skip Cedar City, and Brian Ellinger would slip by John James to claim the second win of the year. Jeff Mello would return to the drivers seat at Reno and would take his 100th career off-road win and first win in W.E.ROCK's Formula Toyota class. WIth all being wide open in the driver's class could we be up for a no repeat winner season? This and all other story lines will be followed as the teams wrap up the Pro-National West Series on the new course in Oroville, CA.
