The Superchips sponsored W.E. Rock Grand Nationals took place over the last weekend of September on the top of Brayton Mountain near Dayton, Tennessee at the host site of the Kizzar’s. Friday and Saturday night saw thousands of spectators and over 20 professional rock crawling teams from all over the country compete for the title of National Champion.
Teams traveled from Oregon, California, Virginia, Kentucky, Colorado, Arkansas, Indiana, Missouri, Nevada, Oklahoma, Illinois, Georgia and Pennsylvania to compete for the top honors in four divisions. The team of Bryan Cooper and Scott Angell from Illinois took home the top honor in the Modified Stock class. Georgian native Brian Millsap won the Sportsman class.
The two professional classes saw Brent Bradshaw of Medford, Oregon with teammate, Chris Poblano of California secure the honors in the Unlimited Class. This was the third National Title in a row for this team. Local favorite, Carl Shortridge and his spotter, Mike Fox finished second, the son-father team of Justin and Mark Hall of California finished third.
The Pro Modified class saw an extremely tight competition throughout both nights. The final scores were -87 for first place to Aaron Sykes and Ken Rose of Sebastopol, California; -86 for second place to Jesse Haines and Brian Howard of Sparks, Nevada and -85 for third place to Team Wombat, Danny Rohrer and Chad Rolfert of Summan, Indiana.
In addition to a great night of competition, awards were also presented for season series winners. The teams, volunteers and staff participated in a fundraiser on Saturday afternoon that raised $835 for the American Cancer Society.

We will have three physical contests for teams to participate in: $20 entry in each or $50 gets you entry in all three. 1) an eating contest (pit crew only) – still deciding what we are eating 2) a wheelchair contest for driver/spotter – we will see if the spotter can listen as well as the driver can and 3) a tire-changing contest – just like Nascar, this is a timed event for all members of your team or family. Please plan to come and participate, we have great prizes and lots of fun planned.
Whether you participate in the fundraiser or not, you are invited to the lunch, we would like all the teams and families to be there so we can show our appreciation to you.
